Lesson Planning and Instructional Year Design

When planning a year, the physical educator must look at the number of days they teach each year. The SHAPE GLO's are designed for teachers that see their students daily. Physical Educators must design their programs to expose student to all standards and hit the standards that will have the biggest impact on student development and understanding of concept knowledge.

2x Week for 30 Minutes= 72 Class Periods (36 hours of Instruction)
1x Week for Hour= 36 Classes (36 hours of Instruction)

5th Grade has 44 Grade Level Outcomes for Standard 1, 2 and 3.

Questions for the Physical Educator and Administration
Which standards will you focus on this year?
How do you track the standards taught?
Can you combine similar standards when teaching skills with concepts?
How do you communicate your data with parents and fellow educators?

Sample Lesson Plan from the Physical Education Digital Library by Human Kinetics

The year plan allows the educator to go find the lesson in the Physical Education Digital Library by Lesson # and then create lesson to meet the needs of their students. All the resources are located in one place for the educator and all activities can me reproduced.

National Lesson Plan Creator
A Voxer Collaboration Project for Physical Educators

This is a great resource for designing lesson plans with standards. The designers created a document to support quality planning in the physical education classroom. When a lesson plan is created using the Google form your plans are e-mail to your inbox and a file is created on the Voxer PhysED Sharing Folder. You will be sharing with other educators.
